Regina Bianchi (actually Regina d'Antigny ; born January 1, 1921 in Lecce , † April 5, 2013 in Rome ) was an Italian actress .

Life

Bianchi was born in a theater in Lecce, where her parents, who belonged to a French actor dynasty, performed and came into contact with the stage at an early age. After first appearances at the age of eight, she received her first contract with Raffaele Viviani in the 1938/1939 season and made her debut at the “Teatro Mercadante di Napoli”. In the following two years she established herself as a fixture in the ensemble's repertoire, but also took on her first cinema roles. She lived with the director of her second film, Goffredo Alessandrini , for almost twenty years and became the mother of two daughters. In 1941 Bianchi decided to devote herself exclusively to the theater - she found film to be too distant a medium for her temperament. With the ensemble of Peppino and Titiana De Filippo , she became an outstanding figure in the Neapolitan dialect theater since 1940; after the troop was disbanded, however, from 1944 on she devoted herself entirely to the family.

In 1959 Bianchi returned to the stage in Filumena Marturano for Eduardo De Filippo . She stayed with De Filippo as a stage partner until 1966; Since 1961 she has been working for the cinema again, where she was able to shine in more mature roles: she received a silver ribbon for her mother role in Nanni Loy's Le quattro giornate di Napoli . The next year, her aging fiancée was also celebrated in Elio Petris I giorni contati . From 1966 she intensified her theatrical work again and played in numerous modern and past classics. In addition to her occasional film work, which included roles in Neapolitan smear films by Alfonso Brescia as well as artistically more demanding works such as Kaos , television engagements became more and more extensive. Until 2008 she remained active in original material and television series; In 1996 she received another Silver Ribbon for her performance in Camerieri . In 2011 an extensive interview about her career was broadcast. In 2012 an authorized biography appeared.
