Louis Niemeyer (born June 25, 1856 in Hanover , † December 10, 1940 in Hamburg ) was a German lawyer and parliamentarian .

Life

Niemeyer studied law at the University of Leipzig , where he joined the Corps Guestphalia in 1875 . He moved to the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin and was also active in the Corps Guestphalia Berlin in 1876 . He received his doctorate as Dr. iur. and settled as a lawyer in Hamburg. On April 9, 1885, he married Erica Marianne Amsinck . Niemeyer belonged to the Hamburg parliament from 1895 to 1901 , he was a member of the Left Center parliamentary group . In the Weimar Republic in 1924 he became President of the Senate at the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court .

When the Gestapo the academical club to Hamburg had banned in 1938, the 81-year-old Niemeyer was Dominus praeses the liquidator appointed. Two years later he died as a result of a traffic accident.

“Niemeyer had already joined the AC in 1880 when he was won over as one of the promising young lawyers for the growing Hamburg.
