Goffredo Alessandrini

Goffredo Alessandrini (born November 9, 1904 in Cairo , † May 16, 1978 in Rome ) was an Italian film director .

Life

Alessandrini was born the son of an Italian actor who worked in Egypt, studied in London and initially worked in film as Alessandro Blasetti's assistant before he was responsible for several documentaries himself.

For some time he worked in Hollywood on Italian versions of American films, and returned to Italy in 1931 when he got the chance to make a first feature film. His films were equally successful with audiences and critics. His films Luciano Serra pilota and Abuna Messias won the Venice Film Festival in 1938 and 1939 - as best Italian and best. as the best film ever.

During the Second World War , Alessandrini continued to work tirelessly without taking any political position, so that after the war he only rarely got the opportunity to work as a director. From 1953 to 1956 he was involved in a handful of films as the directors' supervisor; between 1964 and 1967 he appeared in a number of films as an actor. He was able to make two films in South America. Alessandrini died forgotten in 1978.
