content

Ibrahim is a despot with ambitions - he wants to make peace in the kingdom of Kamal, and if it is by killing all of his opponents. With the help of his untrustworthy subordinate Selim, he achieves that no one dares to even argue against them; not even the rightful ruler, Sultan Omar, or his son Prince Said. However, the latter is planning a plot against Ibrahim. In order to raise the necessary money, Said and his men raid caravans. During such an attack he meets Princess Amina, the despot's daughter, who, however, pretends to be a dancer. Amina falls in love with him, which poses problems for her father, whom she has promised Selim as a wife. Said and his people manage to drive Ibrahim from the throne and ends happily with Amina.

criticism

"Brightly colored, bloodthirsty oriental spectacle."

Others

  • The film was planned and equipped as a prime example of an adventure film, but was subject to serious financial and unforeseen difficulties during the shooting, which explains the many directors, script drafts and the somewhat volatile story.
  • Some scenes were shot in Egypt in 1956, but where the Suez crisis broke out and whereupon the leading actress had to flee via Jordan.
  • The rest of the exterior shots were shot in Spain for four months, the interior scenes in Italian studios.
  • Color inconsistencies arise through the use of three different color systems.
