List of re-electrified railway lines

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Since Werner von Siemens ' first experiments with the electric tram Lichterfelde-Kadettenanstalt , there have been various test systems ( direct current , alternating current and three-phase current ) for the implementation of an electric drive in rail vehicles. Various railway lines were provided with an overhead line or a power rail. The knowledge gained in this way was used for the electrification of state and private railways. A re-electrification usually took place after a neighboring power system in order to guarantee smooth transitions.
