Dolní Dvořiště (German Unterhaid , also Unter Haid ) is a municipality in the Český Krumlov district in the Czech Republic .

geography

The place is 618 m above sea level. M. on the left bank of the Maltsch between the Bohemian Forest and the Gratzener Bergland on the Austrian border, ten kilometers southwest of Kaplice ( Kaplitz ). The cadastral area is 8978 hectares.

Neighboring towns are Suchdol in the north, Rychnov nad Malší and Svatý Kámen nad Malší in the east, Stiegersdorf and Wullowitz in the south and Rybník and Trojany in the west.

Community structure

The municipality Dolní Dvořiště consists of the districts Budákov ( Pudageln ), Dolní Dvořiště, Jenín ( Kodetschlag ), Rybník ( Zartlesdorf , formerly Certlov or Cartle), Rychnov nad Malší ( Reichenau an der Maltsch ), Tichá ( Oppolz ), Trojernj ) and Všeměřice ( Schömersdorf ) and the hamlets and monolayer Cetviny ( Zettwing ) Drochov ( Drochersdorf ), Mýto ( Mauth ), Svatý Kámen nad Malší ( Lady of the Snows in Heiligenstein ) Sosnice ( Oßnitz ) and Štědrkov ( Cerekau ). Basic settlement units are Budákov, Cetviny, Dolní Dvořiště, Jenín, Mikulov, Nádraží Rybník, Rybník, Rychnov nad Malší, Sosnice, Štědrkov, Tichá, Trojany, U Svatého Kamene and Všeměřice.

history

Pilgrimage Church of Maria Schnee near St. Stein

The place was first mentioned in 1279 as Merica in a list of the churches subordinate to the Hohenfurth monastery . Since the middle of the 14th century it belonged to the Pořešín rule and before 1370 came to the Rosenbergs . In 1380 Dworzischcze was raised to a market town and was given the right to carry a coat of arms. After the Rosenbergs died out, Unterhaidt came to the Schwanberger in 1612 and to the Buquoy in 1621 .

After the founding of Czechoslovakia, the Unterhaid Council requested on November 4, 1918 for annexation to Austria. In 1920, 760 people lived in the area, 709 of them were Germans, 43 Czechs and eight Jews. Since the Munich Agreement , the place belonged from 1938 to the district of Kaplitz in the Reichsgau Oberdonau of the German Empire . Between 1946 and 1947 the Germans were expelled .

From 1945 to 1989 the place was on the Iron Curtain . Most of the villages in the area were evacuated and eliminated in the early 1950s.

To the west, Dolní Dvořiště is bypassed by the expressway R 3 / E 55 , which leads to the Wullowitz border crossing and on to Mühlviertler Straße (B 310). The Summerau Railway runs through the districts of Trojany and Rybník, and the branch line to Lipno nad Vltavou branches off in the latter .
