history

Theresiendorf was established in 1769 as a logging settlement during the colonization of the Gratzener Bergland by the owner of the Gratzen estate , Johann Nepomuk von Buquoy , who named it after his wife Theresia. Until the replacement of the patrimonial rule in 1850, it was part of the Gratzener rule and then became part of the municipality of Luschnitz. A school, a church and an inn were built in the village. The residents were Germans, they were expelled in 1945 and 1946. The village had the Czech name Terčí Ves until the 1950s and was then renamed Pohorská Ves . In 1960 it was incorporated into Benešov nad Černou together with Lužnice .

During the Cold War , the place was on the Iron Curtain . After 1950, houses were built for members of the Czechoslovak army . Almost all neighboring towns were cleared and destroyed or left to decay.

After the political upheaval in 1989, Pohorská Ves became an independent municipality again on July 1, 1990. The place, which has now been accessible again, and its nature that has been untouched for decades have since then been visited by cyclists and skiers in particular. There are several nature reserves in the area. The Žofín Primeval Forest National Nature Reserve is not accessible and has been fenced off since 1991 to protect it from roe deer.
