history
Rosenberg was founded in the first half of the 13th century on a trade route from Krumau to Linz . Its history is closely linked to the Rosenbergs , who were the founding members of the Rožmberk Castle . Their owners also owned the town of Rosenberg with the rule of the same name. By 1250 there was already a Jewish community.
The oldest privilege of the town of Rožmberk dates from February 8, 1362. In it, the brothers Peter , Jobst , Ulrich and Johann von Rosenberg granted the town of Rožmberk the so-called “royal right”, according to which the town had to comply with the Písek legal customs . Accordingly, the Rožmberk citizens had the same rights and obligations towards the Rosenberg authorities as the Píseker had towards the king.
On December 29, 1514, King Vladislav granted the town of Rožmberk and its residents a weekly market (every Saturday) and two annual markets lasting eight days. In addition, the city received the miles rights for malt production and beer brewing .
Rosenberg guilds initially served the entire Rosenberg rule and only later did the individual places of the rule and the Cistercian monastery Vyšší Brod form their own guilds. The oldest documented town guild of Rožmberk is the guild of tailors in 1553. In 1583 the guild of bakers, millers and gingerbread makers is documented.
1982 took over the town of Freistadt a sponsorship on the displaced people of the city and parish Rosenberg.
Rosenberg is the main town where Smetana's opera Die Teufelswand takes place. Karel Leger took the landscape as the basis for the plot in his novel Wilde five-petalled rose ( Planá růže pětilistá ).
