Peter II von Rosenberg (Czech Petr II. Z Rožmberka ; * around 1326 in Krumau ; † November 16, 1384 in Hohenfurth ) was a Bohemian nobleman, canon and provost .

Life

Peter II von Rosenberg came from the Bohemian noble family Rosenberg . His parents were Peter I. von Rosenberg and Katharina NN Peter's siblings were:

  • Heinrich II. († 1346)
  • Jost († 1369)
  • Ulrich I , († 1390)
  • Johann († 1389)
  • Anna († 1388), married to Heinrich V. von Leipa
  • Mecela († 1380), married to Johann von Leuchtenberg, Count von Hals
  • NN, married to Tobias Bechin von Kamenice

Peter II von Rosenberg held the office of canon in Passau from 1342 , in Olmütz from 1343 , and in Regensburg from 1344 . In 1355 he was appointed provost at the Collegiate Monastery of All Saints at Prague Castle .

Since he belonged to the clergy and the eldest brother Heinrich died in 1346, after the death of his father in 1347, the third-born son Jost became regent of the Rosenbergs. Presumably on the initiative of Peter, the brothers Peter, Jost, Ulrich and Johann founded the Augustinian monastery in Wittingau in 1367 . After Jost's death in 1369, Ulrich I followed in the reign of the Rosenbergs. For reasons unknown, the brothers Peter, Ulrich and Johann shared the property in 1374. Ulrich received Gratzen and Peter together with Johann the remaining Rosenberg possessions of Rosenberg , Wittinghausen , Friedberg , Krumau , Maidštein , Helfenburk , Jistebnice , Seltschan , Strašice , Zbiroh and Wittingau . Johann took over the management of the common property.

On March 17, 1376, Peter and Johann granted the city of Wittingau the right of repudiation and on September 8, 1376 the rights of a royal city. In 1384 Peter founded together with his brother Johann and Ulrich's son Heinrich III. von Rosenberg the Paulaner monastery in Heuraffl . In 1384 Peter and Johann founded a house for impoverished priests in Wittingau.

With a contract from 1384 it was agreed that after the death of the last brother the Rosenberg possessions should be reunited. Since Peter died that same year, he never achieved the position of regent. Ulrich's son Heinrich III reached this position in 1390.
