Henry III. von Rosenberg (Czech Jindřich III. z Rožmberka ; * 1361 ; † July 28, 1412 ) was the Count of Bohemia . He came from the noble family Rosenberg .

Life

His parents were Ulrich I. von Rosenberg and Elisabeth von Wartenberg († 1387). After the death of his father in 1390, Heinrich became his sole heir and successor. In 1390 he granted the city of Sobieslau privileges which largely corresponded to those of the royal cities and which also allowed the city to be fortified.

During the clashes between the Bohemian nobility and King Wenceslaus IV , Heinrich von Rosenberg took the lead in a noble unit that took Wenceslaus IV prisoner in 1394. He accompanied the prison train with the king to Příběnice , kept him prisoner in his castle Krummau and accompanied him to his next stay in Austria. During Heinrich's absence, Johann von Görlitz plundered his lands.

After the king did not meet the demands of the aristocrats even after his release, Heinrich again took part on the side of the protesting aristocrats who raided and captured the royal cities and castles. In 1395 Heinrich captured and destroyed Kuglweit Castle near Kugelhof and took Wodnian . After the reconciliation with the king, Heinrich was appointed supreme burgrave for the years 1396–1398 and 1400–1404. In this capacity he wore the crown on the occasion of the coronation of Sophie of Bavaria as Queen of Bohemia on March 15, 1400. In 1405 Heinrich, who repeatedly opposed the king and with whom the king reconciled again and again, probably under duress, is said to have received the ruin as a gift. However, the deed of gift is a forgery. In addition, Heinrich took Worlik Castle , which was owned by the Lords of Dauba who stood by the king's side .

During Wenceslas' second capture, his brother Sigismund , who was not yet King of Bohemia, appointed Heinrich von Rosenberg, along with four other Bohemian aristocrats, as land administrator in 1403 .

With his will from the spring of 1412 Heinrich appointed his cousin Vinzenz von Wartenberg as well as Johann the Younger von Neuhaus and his brother-in-law Kravař von Plumlov to be the guardians of his underage children.
