Wenatchee is the county seat and the largest city of Chelan County in the center of the US -amerikanischen state of Washington . At the 2010 census , the city had 31,925 residents.
The city was named after the Wenatchi (also: Wenatchee) Indian tribe . Because of the numerous apple orchards in the Wenatchee Valley, the place is nicknamed Apple Capital of the World .

Wenatchee is located at the confluence of the Wenatchee and Columbia , on the eastern ancestors of the Cascade Range . The place is on the western side of the Columbia, across the river is East Wenatchee . The Columbia forms the border between Chelan County and Douglas County . Wenatchee is the largest city of the Wenatchee – East Wenatchee, Washington Metropolitan Statistical Area , defined for statistical purposes , which includes both counties.
In the north of the city lies Wenatchee Confluence State Park , which with 200 bird species not only plays an ecological role, but also plays a tourist and economic role with 35–40,000 overnight stays.
The city's airport is Pangborn Memorial Airport , which is across the river in East Wenatchee.
