Geefwee Boedoe

Geefwee Boedoe (* 1965 in Wenatchee , Washington ) is an American animator and book illustrator.

Life

Boedoe made his first films while still at school and wanted to become a filmmaker as a teenager. He graduated from the California Institute of the Arts in 1988 . Since then he has worked as an animator for Pixar , Disney Feature Animation, ILM and DreamWorks, among others . Among other things, Boedoe created the title sequence for the animated film Monster AG , animated the beast in Disney's Beauty and the Beast and created the character of Kekata in Pocahontas . He describes the children's books Dr. Seuss ', but also the classic Disney cartoons and cartoons by Max Fleischer .

Boedoe has been a freelance filmmaker and illustrator since 2002. For example, he writes and illustrates children's books. His first children's book Arrowville won the Reuben Award for Best Book Illustration from the National Cartoonist Society in 2004 and was voted one of the ten best illustrated children's books of the year by the New York Times that year.

In 2006 Boedoe began work on his first own animated film, Let's Pollute , which was completed in late 2009. In 2011 it was nominated for an Oscar in the category “ Best Animated Short Film ”.

Boedoe lives in San Francisco with his wife and daughter .
