Canton of Basel

The canton of Basel existed as a federal place from 1501 to 1798 or as a canton from 1803 to 1833 and was an undivided member of the old Confederation and then the Swiss Confederation .

Two half-cantons have existed since the cantons of Basel were separated in 1833 :

•  Basel-Landschaft and
•  Basel city
