Sara Montiel (born March 10, 1928 in Campo de Criptana , Ciudad Real province as María Antonia Alejandra Vicenta Elpidia Isidora Abad Fernández , † April 8, 2013 in Madrid ) was a Spanish actress and singer.

Life

At the age of 16 Montiel won a young talent competition and was hired by producer Vicente Casanova for her first film. In 1950 she went to Hollywood, where she achieved success in the films Vera Cruz on the side of Burt Lancaster and Serenade next to Mario Lanza .

In 1957 she returned to Spain, where she made one of the most successful films in Spain in the same year: El último cuplé by Juan de Orduña . In 1974 Sara Montiel retired from the film business. She appeared on domestic television as well as in stage shows and went on a major tour of America in 1975.

Sara Montiel was married four times, including with the director Anthony Mann . She became the mother of two children.
