Jacqueline Veuve

Jacqueline Veuve (born January 29, 1930 in Payerne as Jacqueline Reber ; † April 18, 2013 ) was a Swiss documentary filmmaker and ethnologist .

Life

After studying in Lausanne and at the École de bibliothécaire-documentaliste in Geneva (1952–1953), Jacqueline Veuve went to Paris for her diploma thesis , where she met the filmmaker and ethnologist Jean Rouch in 1955 at the Musée de l'Homme . She shot her first short film Le Panier à viande in 1966 with Yves Yersin . In the early 1970s she went to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to work with documentary filmmaker Richard Leacock ; During this time she made two short films about the women's movement in the United States.

In 1974 Jacqueline Veuve founded her own film production company Aquarius Films in Lausanne. She made both commissioned films and freelance work. Her first full-length documentary La Mort du grand-père ou Le Sommeil du juste was shown at the Locarno Film Festival in 1978 .

Jacqueline Veuve has made a total of 14 full-length films, including some feature films ( Parti sans laisser d'address 1982; L'Évanouie 1992). There are also over 30 medium-length films and a good dozen short films. This makes her one of the most productive filmmakers in Switzerland.

Jacqueline Veuve married Léopold Veuve in 1956; she became the mother of two children.
