Dominique de Rivaz

Dominique de Rivaz (* 1953 in Zurich ) is a Swiss filmmaker , screenwriter and writer .

Life

Dominique de Rivaz studied literature, history and philology at the University of Friborg . She then learned Russian and worked on filming in Russia, Ukraine, Tajikistan and Estonia. As an assistant director she worked for directors such as Alain Tanner and Bakhtyar Kudoynazarov.

As a director, Dominique de Rivaz first made documentaries . Her first feature film, Mein Name ist Bach , followed in 2004 , which won the Swiss Film Prize in the Best Fiction Film category and was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Foreign Film category. Her second feature film, Luftbusiness , was also awarded a Swiss Film Prize in 2009 (category Best Male Actor for Dominique Jann ). In 2014 she received the Bern Film Prize for Elegy on a Lighthouse .

As a writer, Dominique de Rivaz received the Schiller Prize for her first novel Douchinka in 2009.
