The Christmas Island Phosphate Railway was a connecting line between Flying Fish Cove and South Point of Christmas Island (Christmas Island).
The line was built in standard gauge in 1914 and was 19.7 km long. It was primarily used to transport phosphate , but also transported the workers' children to school. Rail operations ceased in 1987 after the phosphate mining stopped. The rails have since been dismantled. Various remnants including a GE 44-ton switcher diesel locomotive can still be found on the island today.
In addition to the standard gauge line, there was also a railway with a gauge of 610 mm.
