Renate Mannhardt
Renate Mannhardt (born November 20, 1920 in Barmen ; † July 2013 in New York City , United States ; born Hanna Renate Kohlschein ) was a German actress .
Life
Renate Mannhardt was born on November 20, 1920 in Barmen , other sources give 1923 as the year of birth.
The daughter of a lawyer and publishing director took private acting lessons. In the summer of 1943 she received her first engagement at the Königshütte theater .
After the Second World War, Renate Mannhardt played at the Münchner Kammerspiele and at the Komödienhaus in Berlin. In the 1950s she received significant supporting roles in film. In The Lost One (1951) she played the fiancée of a scientist ( Peter Lorre ), who cheats on him, spies on him and is finally killed by him. In the drama The Marriage of Dr. med. Danwitz (1956) she plays a laboratory assistant.
Renate Mannhardt was the mother of a son named Christian (* 1942). In 1956 she met an American economic advisor whom she married and whom she followed to the United States. There she appeared in several American films before ending her film career. She died in New York, where she last lived, in mid-July 2013 at the age of 92.
