Hanns-Georg Rodek

Hanns-Georg Rodek (born September 21, 1957 in Schwenningen am Neckar ) is a German journalist and film critic .

Life

He studied English , German and political science with a master's degree. Since then Rodek has been working as a journalist . From 1986 to 1995 he was employed by Südwest Presse , where he worked as a local editor in Villingen-Schwenningen. The local cinema peephole there had a major impact on his personal passion for film . Since 1995 he has been able to contribute this interest and his specialist knowledge of film art and film history as a film editor for the daily newspaper Die Welt . Film reviews and reports written by him also appear in the Berliner Morgenpost . Occasionally he interviews personalities from the world of film in front of the camera.

Rodek is committed to safeguarding the national and international film heritage and restoring older films. Among other things, he suggested, similar to the usual practice with books, that deposit copies of films should be submitted for archiving.

In 1992, together with Piet Hein Honig, Rodek published the extensive collection of biographies 100001 - the show business encyclopedia of the 20th century . Numerous short biographies in the internet film database filmportal.de also come from his pen. In addition, his contributions have appeared in various edited volumes.

Hanns-Georg Rodek is involved in the Association of German Film Critics (VdFk), at times as a board spokesman. He is also a regular speaker and jury member for various film awards, such as the Gerd Ruge project grants and the 2010 Helmut Käutner Prize awarded by the city of Düsseldorf . Rodek is a member of the film recommendation community Moviepilot .
