Kurt Müller-Graf

Kurt Müller-Graf (born August 9, 1913 in Karlsruhe ; † August 10, 2013 there ) was a German actor and festival director.

Life

Müller-Graf began his acting career in 1930 as an extra at the Volksschauspiele Ötigheim . After completing an acting school he had engagements at the State Theater in Karlsruhe , at the Bavarian State Theater , the Schauspielhaus Zurich , at the National Theater in Mannheim and the Vienna Burgtheater .

He made his film debut in 1941 in a supporting role in Georg Wilhelm Pabst's Komödianten . Müller-Graf's trips from the stage to film continued into the 1950s, but were only sporadic. Of that, the film , which was made under Erich Engel , remained Where is Mr. Belling? (1945) an unfinished defector film . In the 1960s he appeared in individual television productions. After reaching retirement age, he founded the Ettlinger Schlossfestspiele in 1979 , of which he was director for twelve years.

Müller-Graf was awarded the Baden-Württemberg Medal of Merit (1978) and the Federal Cross of Merit, First Class (1983). In 2008 he was made an honorary citizen of the city of Ettlingen .

On his 100th birthday he was honored with a reception in Ettlinger Schloss. The following night he had to be admitted to a hospital in Karlsruhe, where he died the next day.
