Jean-Paul Bonnaire

Jean-Paul Bonnaire (born October 3, 1943 in Chaux , Côte-d'Or ; † March 28, 2013 in Paris ) was a French actor who played in over 100 film productions between 1975 and 2013, including Death of a Referee , The Smile , Dangerous Knowledge , Mishka and The Children of Monsieur Mathieu .

life and career

Jean-Paul Bonnaire was born in Chaux in 1943 as the son of the former mayor Paul Bonnaire, in a municipality in the Côte-d'Or department. Bonnaire, who decided to become an actor at an early age, went to Paris to take acting lessons with Raymond Girard. He finally began his film career in the mid-1970s in François Dupont-Midi's film comedy A corpse on the move in a minor supporting role.

In his almost 40-year acting career, he played numerous prominent supporting roles, including in Jean-Pierre Mocky's drama Death of a Referee (1984), in Claude Miller's comedy The Smile (1994), in Jacques Rozier's comedy Maine Océan Express (1986), in Alain Corneau's thriller Dangerous Knowledge (1997), in Christophe Barratier's film The Children of Monsieur Mathieu (2004) or in Philippe Ramo's literary film adaptation Captain Ahab (2007) the priest.

Jean-Claude Bonnaire had a close friendship with the actor and director Jean-François Stévenin . Under his direction he starred in the film drama Mishka (2002).

He had his last appearance in the French television series Falco . Bonnaire died in Paris on March 28, 2013 at the age of 69.
