São Bento de Ana Loura is a Portuguese place and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Estremoz with 32 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of São Bento de Ana Loura and São Lourenço de Mamporcão merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de São Lourenço de Mamporcão e São Bento de Ana Loura .

São Bento de Ana Loura is the most populous municipality in Portugal. A peculiarity of the Portuguese local electoral law occurs here, which allows the mayor to be elected directly in a citizens' meeting.
Since the local elections in Portugal in 2009, São Bento de Ana Loura has not been governed by one of the major parties, but by the MiETZ - Movimento independente por Estremoz ( Portuguese for: Independent Movement for Estremoz).
