Filip Topol (born June 12, 1965 in Prague ; † June 19, 2013 there ) was a Czech singer , songwriter and pianist .

Life

He was the son of the playwright and translator Josef Topol , his older brother is the writer and poet Jáchym Topol . Filip Topol founded the band Psí vojáci (German dog soldiers ) in 1979 together with some classmates from primary school . Filip Topol also released three solo albums during his career. In addition to songs, he also wrote poetry and prose and worked as an actor in several Czech films. Žiletky is one of the most famous songs of the Psí vojáci, because from him a film with the same name emerged in 1994, in which Filip Topol played the leading role. In 2015, the director Václav Kučera created the documentary film Takovej barevnej vocas letící komety (A Colorful Tail of a Flying Comet) , which traces the life and work of Josef Topol and gives an insight into the Czech music scene and society before and after the Velvet Revolution .
