Valentin de Vargas (born Albert Charles Schubert on April 27, 1935 in Albuquerque , New Mexico , † June 10, 2013 in Tulsa , Oklahoma ) was an American actor .

life and career

Valentin de Vargas was born into a Mexican-American family; one of his uncle was the actor Don Alvarado . From the mid-1950s to the late 1990s, he was seen in numerous films and series. He made his debut in 1955 as a student in the school drama The Seeds of Violence by Richard Brooks . In 1958 he starred in Orson Welles ' film Under the Signs of Evil in a villain role. In 1960 he was in The Magnificent Seven by John Sturges to see. These roles set the expressive, often mysterious to demonically smiling de Vargas on the role of mostly petty criminals Mexicans who worked for a larger cartel or a larger gang. In 1962, however, he gained greater fame with the incomparably more sympathetic role of Luis Francisco Garcia Lopez in Howard Hawks ' film Hatari! . De Vargas played his last role in 1997 as a Mexican doctor in the crime drama Without a Conscience on the side of Billy Zane .

The actor was married three times and had three children. He died of cancer in June 2013 at the age of 78.
