Eralp Uzun

Eralp Hüseyin Uzun (born July 2, 1981 in West Berlin ; † April 11, 2013 there ) was a German actor of Turkish descent.

Life

Eralp Uzun was already on the big screen at the age of 16: In Nachtgestalten (1999) by Andreas Dresen . He then played regularly in various television series as a guest, sometimes in leading episode roles. Including in Lisa Falk (1998), Sternenfänger (2002), Unser Charly (2004), Section 40 (2006), Alarm für Cobra 11 - Die Autobahnpolizei (2008, 2010).

He gained his first theater experience in 2000 at the Berlin youth theater Strahl in Figaro's wedding in the role of Figaro . Then he played in the JugendTheaterWerkstatt Spandau. Here director Carlos Manuel cast him in the leading roles: Peer Gynt (2001; in the program of the Berlin Festival 2002), Nachtasyl (2004), The Brothers Karamazov (2006).

He played the lead role of Cemil "Jimmy" Arkadas in the comedy series Alle liebe Jimmy (2006-2007), which won the German Television Award ( 2006 ), the Rose d'Or , the Prix ​​Europa and even the International Emmy , the television Oscar in the USA (all 2007) was nominated. After the series there was a dance challenge for Eralp Uzun: He took part in the second season of Let's Dance , in which he presented a slow waltz and a rumba .

Uzun has appeared in several films, such as the taboo-free Berlin satire Black Sheep (2006). Between the police and an Afghan drug cartel, he was the son of a major dealer in heads or tails (2009). In Straight (2008) he was involved in a turbulent three-way relationship in the multicultural Berlin-Neukölln . The film caused a sensation at film festivals (including in the USA). In the comedy film Evet, I want! (2009) he played a homosexual car mechanic who stands between the culture of his origin and his German friend.

Eralp Uzun played in May 2008 in Recklinghausen Theater ( Ruhrfestspiele ). In the play Golden West ( True West ) he was Austin , one of the two main characters. The play was written by the American playwright and actor Sam Shepard in the early 1980s. The production is directed by Frank Hoffmann , Artistic Director of the Théâtre National du Luxembourg . From September 2008 to January 2009 Eralp Uzun was seen in this role at the Berlin Renaissance Theater .

On April 11, 2013, Uzun was found dead in his parents' apartment in Berlin. In his memory, family members and friends planted an apple tree on the orchard meadow in Görlitzer Park in Berlin-Kreuzberg in May 2013 .
