Peter Gehrig
Peter Gehrig (born June 27, 1935 in Essen , † January 16, 2013 in Munich ) was a German documentary filmmaker, writer and director.
Life
Peter Gehrig studied at the German Institute for Film and Television (DIFF) in Munich, then worked for several years as a unit manager and production assistant in documentary, commercial and TV play productions. In 1961, he and Uwe Krauss received the Federal Film Prize for his first short film, “Zündhölzer” . Since 1963 he has been working as a freelance documentary filmmaker. Since then, around 80 documentaries have been made, mainly for German television stations. Long-term project: a book entitled “Unmade Films” about the numerous film projects that have not been realized.
