Friedrich von Falkenhausen

Friedrich Carl Alexander Caesar Baron von Falkenhausen (born August 21, 1869 in Potsdam ; † March 27, 1946 there ) was a Prussian administrative lawyer , writer and translator .

Life

Falkenhausen was the son of Baron Ludwig von Falkenhausen (1844–1936) and his first wife Helene nee. von Waldow and Reitzenstein (1847–1886). He studied law at the Georg August University of Göttingen and the Ruprecht Karls University of Heidelberg and became a member of the Corps Saxonia Göttingen (1887) and Saxo-Borussia (1888). After passing the state exam and subsequent clerkship Falkenhausen had since 1899 as district administrator of the district Lubben operates. In 1905 he was taken over as an unskilled worker in the Prussian regionMinistry of Agriculture , in 1910 he was promoted to senior government councilor . In 1914/15 he was President of the District of Potsdam , where he also acted as head of the Märkische Wasserstraßenverwaltung.

In 1916 he was appointed chairman of the Prussian state grain office, and was also a member of the board of directors of the Reich grain office . In addition, from 1915 to 1917 he served as Undersecretary in the Prussian Ministry of Agriculture . In 1916 he was appointed Deputy President of the War Food Office . In 1917 he was entrusted with the management of the head of administration in the staff upper east . At the same time he was the imperial civil commissioner in Courland and Lithuania . In 1918 he was appointed Reich Commissioner for the German-occupied Baltic Sea Regions and Lithuania.

In July 1918 it was first put up for discussion and finally adopted in November 1918. In March 1920 he was appointed head of the Reich Chancellery of the putschist government under Wolfgang Kapp . In retirement, he translated and commented on the Divine Comedy and wrote a biography of Dante .

Until 1930 he was the general representative of Empress Hermine in Saabor , Lower Silesia .

Falkenhausen married on December 4, 1896 in Lieberose Charlotte von der Marwitz (born May 13, 1873 in Friedersdorf ; † December 11, 1968 in Düsseldorf-Kaiserswerth ). The son Gotthard von Falkenhausen became a banker. The daughter Helene von Falkenhausen became a painter. She married Harald von Koenigswald . It was through this connection that Falkenhausen wrote articles and book reviews for the White Papers.
