Stacie Passon

Stacie Passon (born October 10, 1969 in Detroit , Michigan ) is an American director , screenwriter and producer . Her first film, Concussion, was presented at the 2013 Sundcance Film Festival and won a Teddy Award Jury Prize at the 2013 Berlin International Film Festival in the same year .

Life

Passon was born the second daughter of Steve and Michelle Passon and studied at Columbia College Chicago, where she graduated in 1993. She is a Jew. She lives in Montclair, New Jersey with her wife, marketing manager Alyson Shapero and their children Micah (* 2002) and Maren Shapero (* 2005).

Career

Passon began her career as a director and producer of commercials, a. a. on behalf of Atlantic Records , Donna Karan , Ralph Lauren, and Sony Music . In 2013 she was nominated for Concussion for the Gotham Award for Best New Direction and the Independent Spirit Award for Best Debut. The film won the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Film - Limited Release and a Teddy Award Jury Prize at the Berlin International Film Festival 2013.

Passon directed two episodes of the Primetime Emmy Award- winning dramedy series Transparent . In 2016 she was Executive Producer of the comedy film Women Who Kill.

2017 Passon took over the film adaptation of We have always lived in the castle , based on the novel of the same name by Shirley Jackson .

Her next project is the family drama Strange Things Started Happening . The production takes place in cooperation with the Sundance Institute and the Tribeca Film Institute. Passon writes the script himself.

Passon teaches screenwriting at the Kanbar Institute for Film and Television at New York University .
