Barbara Junge (born November 14, 1943 in Neunhofen ( Thuringia ); née Becher ) is a German documentary film director who is best known as the co-director of the long-term project Die Kinder von Golzow .

After graduating from high school, Junge completed an apprenticeship as a typesetter . She then studied at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig and graduated with a diploma as an interpreter for English and Russian. From 1969 she worked in the DEFA studio for documentaries and was initially responsible for foreign language versions of DEFA documentaries.

From 1978 she was also in charge of the archive documentation of the Golzow project and from 1983 also the editing of all her husband Winfried Junge's films . From 1992 until the end of the project Children of Golzow led them with him directing . Together with her husband, she was appointed a member of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of the Arts in 1996 .

After the end of the GDR and with it DEFA , she and her husband continued the Golzow project in co-production with broadcasters of the ARD , especially the RBB .

Barbara Junge is the mother of screenwriter Laila Stieler . Barbara and Winfried Junge live in Berlin today.
