Esther Becker

Esther Becker (* 1980 in Erlangen ) is a German writer , playwright and performer .

Life

After completing a master's degree in Scenic Arts Practice at the Bern University of the Arts, Esther Becker studied literary writing at the Swiss Literature Institute in Biel and at the German Literature Institute in Leipzig . In 2013 she received a working grant from the Theater Commission of the City of Zurich .

Becker is a member of the performance collective BigNotwendigkeit and is also on stage with his own texts, most recently in 2019 with the stand-up tragedy The Bitter End.

For her pieces, which are often aimed at a young audience, she received numerous awards, including being invited to the Heidelberger Stückemarkt in 2013 with the play Supertrumpf and in 2018 with Game Stock , a children's play on the subject of escape and solidarity . In 2014 she received the Kathrin Türks Prize, and in 2019 the Berlin Children's Theater Prize for Life is a Request Concert .

Becker lives and works in Berlin.
