Sebastian Grobler

Sebastian Grobler (* 1968 in Hamburg ) is a German film director . He achieved greater fame in 2011 with the movie The Great Dream , in which Daniel Brühl played the leading role.

Life

After high school and civil service, Grobler studied German literature with a focus on theater and media, psychology and history at the University of Hamburg from 1989 to 1995 . As an assistant director he worked, among other things, on the Oscar- nominated film Jenseits der Stille by Caroline Link , the multi-part TV series Der König von St. Pauli by Dieter Wedel and the Hamburg Theater Kampnagel . He also assisted the directors Michael Knof and Christian Wagner . From 1997 to 2003 he studied at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy in Ludwigsburg . His graduation film was entitled Tomorrow morning is rum , for which he won the Studio Hamburg Young Talent Award in the category Best Director in 2003 . In 2007 he was granted a VGF grant for young producers.

In the following period Grobler took over the direction of the television series Marienhof , Sturm der Liebe and Die Fallers - Eine Schwarzwaldfamilie .

His first movie in 2011 was the soccer film The Big Dream with Daniel Brühl in the lead role.
