The VGF collecting society for rights of use an Filmwerke mbH ( VGF ) is a German collecting society with seat in Munich and an office in Berlin . The VGF exercises the rights of German and foreign film producers, producers of other film works and directors of feature films .

The founding shareholders of VGF are the Association of Film Distributors in Berlin and the Producers Association in Munich, each with 50% .

Areas of activity

In particular, the VGF exercises the right to private reproduction in accordance with Section 54 , Section 54a , Section 54d of the Copyright Act (UrhG), as well as remuneration for cable retransmissions and for renting and lending video cassettes in accordance with Section 27 UrhG.

The activities of the VGF are subject to state control under the Collecting Societies Act (VGG). The supervisory authority of the collecting society is the German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA) in Munich.

The VGF Prize, endowed with 60,000 euros, is awarded annually for young productions.
