Marc Rothemund (born August 26, 1968 ) is a German film director . His best-known films include Sophie Scholl - The Last Days (2005), My Blind Date with Life (2017) and This Stupid Heart (2017).

Life

Rothemund is the son of the film director Sigi Rothemund and brother of the actress Nina Rothemund . He started his career as an assistant to his father. He presented his first work as an independent director for television. His first movie was in 1998, The Strange Behavior of Sexually Mature City-dwellers during the Mating Season . He had his breakthrough in 2005 with the film Sophie Scholl - The Last Days . For this film he was awarded the Silver Bear for best director at the Berlinale on February 19, 2005 , as well as the Peace Prize of German Film - Die Brücke . Sophie Scholl - The last dayswas nominated on January 31, 2006 for an " Oscar " in the category "Best Foreign Language Film".
