Sophie van der Stap (born June 11, 1983 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch journalist and book author .

Career

After graduating from Barlaeus Gymnasium , Van der Stap studied political science in Amsterdam. In the spring of 2005, she was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma that had attached to one of the lungs . She was able to recover from her cancer with several chemotherapies .

She processed her experiences in the fight against the disease in a book that appeared in the Netherlands in 2006 under the title Meisje met negen pruiken (" The Girl with the Nine Wigs ") and became a bestseller there . In 2008 the book was also published in German. At the same time, ZDF produced the report The Girl with the Nine Wigs - How Sophie Overcomes Cancer , which was broadcast in April 2008 as part of the 37 ° series. The singer Anouk released a single in 2005 with the song Lost .

Van der Stap has since moved to Paris and is working on a new novel there after living in Amsterdam and working for the magazines “ Cosmopolitan ” and “ NL20while studying there.

On March 28, 2013, the film Today I'm blond , based on her book, with Lisa Tomaschewsky in the leading role in German cinemas.
