action

Lenny, the almost 30-year-old son of a heart specialist, lives a full life. He squandered his father's money and went partying almost every day. When he crashes through the locked garage door after a drunk drive and sinks the sports car in his home swimming pool, his father blocks his credit cards. However, he offers Lenny the chance to release her again in case he takes care of one of his patients. This is 15-year-old David, who was born with a serious heart defect, has undergone countless operations and for whom every further day could mean the end.

Reluctantly at first, Lenny visits David and his single mother in their high-rise estate. Confronted with the hardship and dangers of the life-threatening illness for the first time, he reacts contradictingly. He feels drawn to the teenager, but is overwhelmed by the many restrictions in David's life and the fate of his schoolmates in the hospice. He makes it his goal to fulfill David's material desires. This includes driving a sports car or going shopping, which is easy for the doctor's son to do. But David's intangible desires, such as getting to know a girl, seeing his mother happy and falling in love, seem almost impossible to reach Lenny. He wants to slip away from responsibility, go through the nights in the club again and have carefree sex. So he tells David that someone else should help him with the wish list and says “Bye”. In response, Lenny's father has the mansion's lock replaced. Locked out, Lenny is given a place to sleep with David, whom he visits again after being kicked out of the family mansion. The boy actually grows dear to his heart through the intensive coexistence and he not only plays his protector, but also begins to take care of David's “impossible wishes” with cheek and imagination.

production

The novel This stupid heart by Lars Amend and Daniel Meyer , which appeared in 2013, is based on true events. He tells the story of Amend and Meyer, a teenager with a heart condition. The 15-year-old had made a list of 25 things he wanted to experience in his life. Amend had made it his goal to make this list completely a reality.

In September 2013, Constantin Film announced that it had secured the film rights to the material. In 2016 it was announced that the main role of "Lenny" - the counterpart to Amend - would be played by Elyas M'Barek . The role of Meyer, who is called David in the film, is played by the young actor Philip Noah Schwarz . The shooting took place in autumn 2016 in Berlin and Bavaria , whereby the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern supported the project with 900,000 euros.

The score was composed by Johnny Klimek . The soundtrack also contains songs from the film by Christian “Crada” Kalla and the song The Heart Beats Up to the Neck of Revolverheld , comprises 14 pieces of music and was released as download by Königskinder Music in December 2017.

The film was released on December 21, 2017.

criticism

“A bestseller film adaptation with a cheap message, predictable plot and implausible characters. The alleged conflicts between the friends remain underdeveloped and just as tense as the attempts to loosen up the tragic elements with humor. "

Gross profit

In Germany, the film had 2,025,446 visitors by March 18, 2018.
