Leopold Hornung

Leopold Hornung (born March 21, 1978 in Munich ) is a German actor .

Life

Education and theater

Leopold Hornung attended, among other things, the Maximiliansgymnasium in Munich up to the 8th grade . From 1999 to 2003 he trained as an actor at the Bavarian Theater Academy August Everding in Munich.

From 2002 to 2006 he was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Munich Volkstheater . There he played, among others, the mountain farmer Benedikt Klotz in Die Geierwally (November 2002–2005, directed by Christian Stückl ), Claudio in Much Ado About Nothing (2003, directed by Jorinde Dröse ), Romeo in Romeo and Juliet (2003, directed : Nuran Calis ), the black in Die Räuber (2003, directed by Christian Stückl), the homosexual Abram in Lower Bavaria (based on the play Hunting Scenes from Lower Bavaria by Martin Sperr , October 2003, directed by Florian Fiedler ), the Merkl Franz in Kasimir and Karoline (2004, director: Florian Fiedler), Sir Andrew in Was ihr wollt (2004, director: Jorinde Dröse), the agent Gervasius in Purgatory in Ingolstadt (director: Jorinde Dröse) and in Woyzeck (2006, director: Christian Stückl ).

In May 2007, again under the direction of Jorinde Dröse, he played the son Christian in a stage version of the film Das Fest by Thomas Vinterberg , which was also shown at the Bayerische Theatertage in 2008 . Occasionally Hornung also staged at the Munich Volkstheater, for example in 2006 he realized Romeo and Juliet in a version that played against the backdrop of the 2006 World Cup .

From 2008 to 2010 Hornung played at the Schauspielhaus Bochum . In February 2008 he took over there, again under the direction of Jorinde Dröse, the Scanlon in the play One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Dale Wasserman . In December 2008 he had one of the leading roles in the theater project Connecting People by Frank Abt . In June 2009 he played the secretary Prozy in the world premiere of the play Elevator to Bankruptcy by Marcel Luxinger . In April 2010 he appeared in Brecht's play Herr Puntila and his servant Matti in various roles.

In 2012, Leopold Hornung played the lead role in Empire V , an adaptation of Viktor Pelewin's novel, at Theater Basel , directed by Alexander Nerlich . In 2013 he was a guest at the United Theaters in Bozen as Paul Kreindl in Schnitzler's Das weite Land . In the 2013/14 season he embodied the figure of the newlywed husband Thomas in Philipp Löhle's globalization parable “Das Ding” at the Ingolstadt City Theater . In the 2017/18 season he appeared in Kathrin Rögglas Fake Reports at the Saarland State Theater .

Movie and TV

Leopold Hornung was seen in several movies . In 2006 he starred in the film Shopping . In 2007 he played the chaplain in the home film Toni Goldwascher , who lovingly takes care of the twelve-year-old outsider Toni. He played a small role in the feature film Der Baader Meinhof Complex (2008). In the melancholy relationship comedy The Last Beautiful Autumn Day (2010), he played Tobias, the best friend of the male lead, Leo, directed by Ralf Westhoff . In 2014 he appeared in the thriller Who Am I - No system is safe with Baran bo Odar .

Leopold Hornung also played in numerous television series . He was often used in series with a southern German or Austrian background, including Der Bergdoktor , Die Bergwacht , Der Bulle von Tölz , Die Rosenheim-Cops or as a suspect in the series Mit Herz und Handschellen , set in an Upper Bavarian village , but also in many other productions such as Tatort , Polizeiruf 110 and many television films.

Hornung has also appeared in short films, including as Soldier Charly in Snipers Alley . In the radio play series Radio Tatort, he also worked in the detective radio play Irmis Ehre as Police Master Richard Veitl.

In the first German Netflix series Dark , he can be seen as police officer Torben Wöller. He started shooting for the second season of "Dark" in June 2018. In the 20th season of the ZDF series SOKO Leipzig (2019), he took on one of the main episodic roles as suspect restaurateur Finn Kern. In the 9th season of the ZDF series Last Trace Berlin (2020), he took on one of the main episode roles alongside Effi Rabsilber as the suspected husband of a witness, in whose house about 30 years ago the sister of the investigator Alexander von Tal ( Aleksandar Radenkovic ) was murdered. In the 19th season of the ZDF series Die Rosenheim-Cops (2020) Hornung had one of the main episode roles as Commissioner Winter's ex-boyfriend from Bielefeld , who turns out to be an important witness.

Private

Hornung is married to the author and director Lena Stahl and, after many years in Munich, now lives in Berlin .
