Wang Manyu ( Chinese  王曼昱 , Pinyin Wáng Mànyù ; born February 9, 1999 in Qiqihar ) is a Chinese table tennis player .

Career

Wang made her first international appearances in 2012. In 2013 she took part in the World Youth Championship for the first time, where she reached the semi-finals in singles and won silver in doubles. At the next two world championships she won gold in singles and with the team and once gold in doubles and mixed. In the adult field, she competed for the first time at the Korea Open 2014, where she won the doubles competition. In the world rankings she made it into the top 100 this year.

In 2017 their international activity increased significantly. At the Asian Championships she reached the semi-finals in mixed and won silver in doubles with Chen Ke , on the World Tour she achieved numerous medals and she won her first World Tour gold medal in singles at the Austrian Open . In November she reached 10th place in the world rankings at the age of 18, at the World Youth Championship she won gold in mixed and team and silver in singles and doubles. In 2018 she took part in her first World Cup and won gold with the team, and after further successes on the World Tour, she moved up to second place in the world rankings and won the Asian Games in August. She also won gold with the team at the Asian Games. In 2019 she became world champion in doubles with Sun Yingsha and reached the semi-finals in singles. At the Grand Finals she won silver after a final defeat against Chen Meng , in doubles she and Sun Yingsha failed in the semifinals to Miyuu Kihara and Miyu Nagasaki .

In 2020 she reached the semi-finals in singles at the first World Tour tournament, the German Open , and won gold in doubles.
