Franziska Buch

Franziska Buch (born November 15, 1960 in Stuttgart ) is a German director and screenwriter . Since 2002 she has headed the script department at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy alongside Christoph Fromm .

Life

Franziska Buch studied philosophy and German at the University of Stuttgart and the Sapienza in Rome. She completed her studies with a master's degree. In 1986 she went to the Munich University of Television and Film in Munich. In 1987 she received the German Short Film Award in Berlin for her first film The Order of Things . A year later she directed the 45-minute film Death of an Idiote , which was produced in cooperation with Bavarian television. Her film The Uncertain Location of Paradise , a children's film, is about a girl who escapes from reality into a dream world. The film premiered in 1993 and is considered her actual debut as a feature film director.

Franziska Buch has been working as a freelance screenwriter and director since 1991. She has written scripts for various German crime series such as OK (1993/1994, Bavaria Film) and Faust (1994/1995, ZDF).
