Niederaichbach Castle is a castle in the municipality of Niederaichbach in the Landshut district in Bavaria .

history

The current place name Niederaichbach is likely to be derived from the noble family of Aichpeckhen, who lived here until 1334. Successors as village lords were from the time between 1410 and 1420 the Hermstorfer . Niederaichbach was raised to Hofmark as early as 1444 . In 1507 Siegmund von Königsfeld finally received the Hofmark rights in Niederaichbach. The Königsfeld family, to which Emperor Leopold I had bestowed the title of "Hereditary Imperial Count" on September 14, 1686 , died out in 1737. The Königsfeld widow married a count of Closen in 1737 . The Counts of Closen were followed by Counts von Freyen-Seyboltstorff from 1762 until the 19th century , whose court rights were converted into a Count Freyen-Seyboltstorff patrimonial court (2nd class) in 1812 . As a result of the revolution of 1848/1849 , it was repealed by law of June 4, 1848. Later, De Weerth and then the Berlin banker Otto von Mendelssohn Bartholdy owned the palace and estate. In 1925 Prince Ludwig Philipp von Thurn und Taxis (1901–1933) took over the castle, which passed to the princes of Urach through his daughter . It went by inheritance to his daughter Iniga Fürstin von Urach (1925-2008) and then to her son Karl-Anselm Fürst von Urach (* 1955).

It also serves as a filming location for the “Kaltenthal Abbey” in the TV series Um Himmels Willen .
