The Postal Oberroning is an Outbound medieval hilltop castle at about 460  m above sea level. NHN , which is located immediately northeast of the Rottenburg district of Oberroning in the Landshut district on the Venetsberg (also: Venusberg ). The distance to the Expositurkirche Mariä Himmelfahrt is around 350 meters.

Of the former two-part castle complex, only the artificially elevated tower of the keep remains . Today the Burgstall is registered as a floor monument D-2-7238-0107 "Medieval Burgstall" by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation .

history

The place Roning , today Oberroning, was first mentioned in 760 as a Adalunc the monastery of St. Emmeram in Regensburg gave possessions. This makes Roning one of the earliest mentioned places in the district. A castle belonging to the Counts of Roning was first mentioned in 1045. When the counts died out around 1180, the castle and the county of Roning became the property of the Wittelsbach family . In armed conflicts between Duke Ludwig I of Bavaria and Bishop Konrad III. The castle complex was destroyed by Regensburg in 1203.

The castle was probably given up earlier, as Abbot Heinrich I of Mallersdorf Monastery was allowed to have iron and stones collected for the extension of his monastery church, which was inaugurated in 1177.
