The moated castle of Holzen in the Lower Bavarian market town of Essenbach is a former mansion of the estate of the same name . It is registered under the number D-2-74-128-19 in the list of monuments of the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments .

According to an inscription plaque that has been on the north wall since 1905, the castle was built in 1604. In 1905, Louis van Heemskerck rebuilt it .

description

The stately two-storey plastered building has a steep, three-storey gable roof . The gable facade is crowned by nine battlements . The building is completely surrounded by a moat .
