Doris Kunstmann (born October 22, 1944 in Hamburg ) is a German actress .

Life

Kunstmann is the daughter of the actress and graphic artist Erika Kunstmann and the producer Georg Thiess. She initially grew up with her grandparents and then attended the North Sea boarding school in Sankt Peter-Ording . She became interested in acting at an early age and after graduating from secondary school, she trained in Hamburg on the advice of actor Joseph Offenbach . She made her first stage experience in 1962 at the Hamburg Junge Theater , a year later she made her screen debut with a supporting role in the documentary film They found their way . However, Kunstmann's breakthrough as a recognized film actress came in 1968 as Nora in Ugo Liberatores The Sex of Angels , from which a close friendship with the Italian director grew; with him she also made Bora Bora (1968) and Lovemaker (1969).

Back in Germany, Alfred Vohrer cast her as Irene Waldegg in his Simmel adaptation And Jimmy went to the rainbow (1971). This film made her known to a wider audience in Germany.
