action

The veterinarian Sebastian Brunnen is a widower and moves from Berlin to the Moselle to Bernkastel-Kues, where he takes over a veterinary practice . In the process he met Katharina Mohr, who was engaged to the mayor of the city and who had run a riding stables on her own since the death of her parents. When Mohr's most valuable broodmare fell ill and had to be put to sleep, her fiancé Daniel Heim showed no sympathy for Katharina's situation. Instead, he immediately demands the killing of the horses on the entire farm, as the animal was sick with infectious anemia , a very contagious disease. Katharina is devastated, because not only the mare is a loss, the entire farm is subject to a restricted zone and the annual rider festival is out of the question. Even for veterinarian Brunnen this is not easy to endure, because he likes Katharina and it was not easy for him to convey the news of the contagious disease to her. In addition, he couldn't keep his promise to his daughter Kira because he just wanted to spend the day with her and not "play the animal saver" somewhere.

A world collapses for Katharina when the official veterinarian tells her after a few days that all of her livestock must be put down. Since she doesn't get any support from her boyfriend, she spontaneously breaks the engagement. She even suspects that their animals only want to be sacrificed for the economic interests of "a few masters", because the son of the official veterinarian also owns a horse farm and therefore has less of a competitor to fear. She turns to veterinarian Brunnen and both get a counter-opinion to keep the animals alive. In addition, he looks around the stud from which Katharina had recently bought the mare. The stud manager remembers that the previous owner, from whom he had acquired the animal, had given various feed supplements. Brunnen takes the whole box and has everything examined in a laboratory. With all the problems, he again neglects his daughter. Although he had made a firm promise to be back for dinner that she had prepared especially for both of them, he again failed to keep his word. Kira is packing her things and wants to travel back to Berlin late at night. Brunnen then finds her at the train station and fetches her back.

The next day the epidemic committee wants to pass judgment on the fate of Katharina's horses. Brunnen has great difficulty in submitting the laboratory report on time. It now becomes clear that vitamin tablets from Ireland were the cause of the epidemic. Since only the mare had received this preparation, the other horses could not have become infected. The official veterinarian points out, however, that this would not change the risk of infection with the disease. However, Brunnen explains that the mare never had contact with the other horses. Katharina's horses only have to survive the quarantine period and her riding business can finally continue. She is happy and shares this happiness with Brunnen. Both confess their love.

criticism

Rainer Tittelbach from Tittelbach.tv commented: “There are films in which you remember individual pictures and whose story you have completely forgotten. It's similar to films with Valerie Niehaus. Now one is released to be quickly forgotten. A program magazine writes about the horse farm Schmonzette 'Tierischliebbt': 'Even horse and Moselle fans neigh about it'. "But Tittelbach praises the acting performance of Niehaus:" Small alludes to the banal. She perfectly masters the casual variety with which she charges the clichés of the plot with the aura of the everyday. "

The critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm expressed themselves critically and remarked with reference to the film title: “Beastly predictable, beastly boring”. They gave the film a medium rating, thumbs to the side.

For Kino.de , Tilmann P. Gangloff judged : “You know the ingredients of this horse thriller, good and bad are quickly identified, and you have an early idea how the story will end. Nevertheless, one likes to watch, which is mainly thanks to the actors. ”“ Director Ariane Zeller is directing the film at the usual Friday pace, but she is particularly excellent at leading the young Géraldine Raths, who is as clever as she is perky, Kira. The unimaginative and clichéd musical sauce is, however, in places almost unbearable; but the beautiful Moselle landscape is all the better presented. "
