Gregor Törzs

Gregor Törzs (born January 28, 1970 in Hamburg ) is a German director , photographer and former actor .

Life

Gregor Törzs is the son of the former television announcer Dénes Törzs . In his hometown Hamburg Gregor Törzs began as a 17-year-old to work in an advertising agency, was promoted to production assistants and decided at the age of 19 years, Germany to leave and to Los Angeles to draw, where he worked as a camera assistant , producer assistant , lighting technician and cameraman worked . In Los Angeles he learned the film trade with John Dykstra and Doug Smith in the special visual effects Apogee . In 1993 he received the position of “Director of Photography” and realized various cinema and advertising projects with Michel Comte . With that he established himself as a cameraman. He worked with Sophia Loren , Geraldine Chaplin and Nastassja Kinski .

His acting career began unplanned. In 1996 he was booked as a cameraman for the MTV advertising campaign hot and fat when the director of the campaign, Martin Schmid, discovered his acting talent. This resulted in almost 30 film and television productions as an actor, although Törzs did not give up and continued his work as a cameraman and director.

Törzs has been focusing on photography since 2006. His animal series Boy on Safari has been exhibited several times. The fashion designer Wolfgang Joop was inspired by this series for his fashion label Wunderkind and used five of Törzs' motifs for the autumn and winter collection 2009. His other work series include the underwater project Ciel Lourd and the microscope photography series Plus Grand Que Moi with depictions of Insects, clockworks and diamonds in high sharpness that were developed using platinum printing .

Törzs lives in Berlin.
