Donna Roma is a four-part mini - crime drama from film director Jakob Schäuffelen that in Italy or Germany plays. It was first broadcast on March 1, 2007 on ZDF .

action

With her case analysis and criminal-psychological knowledge ( Profiler ), Commissioner Friederike Heise clarifies murders, the causes of which are particularly difficult to determine. At first she is only in Rome because of the administrative assistance ordered, and later for very private reasons. She and her partner, Chief Inspector Marcello Pascarella, often run into each other, feel drawn to each other anyway, or perhaps because of that, and form a good team of investigators.

Episodes

1. Deadly art

The Berlin profiler Friederike Heise travels to Rome to help solve a murder case, as she has been working on a similar case in Germany for some time and the perpetrator is probably the same. The police found a fake of a famous painting by Polidoro da Caravaggio with the face of the last victim painted on it, apparently a psychopathically motivated act. The Italian inspector Marcello Pascarella is initially not happy about the help. Since the reservation of the hotel does not go as planned either, she lives with Marcello. Eventually they find a lead. A nurse has stolen the poison that killed the victims from the hospital. He escapes Frederike and Marcello and is later found dead. Shortly before, Frederike visits Professor Tamburini, who is supposed to find out a typical handwriting from the painting style. He pretends not to find anything, because he is the “gifted” artist himself. At gunpoint, he goes with her into a hidden adjoining room. When Marcello, who has meanwhile tracked down Tamburini's, arrives and asks Tamburini to surrender in the adjoining room that has since been found, Frederike wants to administer an overdose of a neurotoxin . Frederike is able to defend herself in the chair on which she is tied up so that Tamburini injects the poison into herself and dies immediately. When Frederike arrives back home, she finds her husband in bed with one of his students.

2. Murder and Atonement

Frederike is offered a permanent position in Rome and so she goes there, since she no longer holds anything in Berlin. Her daughter Sophie is also coming to Rome. As soon as it arrives, there is a new case: a murdered drug addict is ritually laid out in a church. Frederike creates a connection. A few years ago there was a very similar case, there are only small differences in detail. The sexton and his daughter are quickly suspected of having something to do with the murder. Another murder occurs, and it is later revealed that the victim in the previous case was the sexton's other daughter. Eventually he admits the murder.

3. The cipher killer

Now that Friederike's husband has also shown up in Rome, he brings Marcello's housekeeper to despair. But a new case is also waiting. Murder tools were found in a burned down building, but the victims are still missing. Finally, Frederike and Marcello find out that they must have been homeless because nobody misses them. But the perpetrator is so skillful that all measures to catch him are unsuccessful. Meanwhile, another body has been found: another homeless person. However, this is already half decomposed. Finally they find the culprit: it is the security officer.

4. The avenger

A leading forensic scientist is shot dead at a forensic psychology congress. The perpetrator seems to be an imitator of Lars Keller, who is imprisoned. Because of this international incident, the government is putting the police chief under pressure, which he in turn does with his team. Since Lars Keller could have something to do with the murder, he is flown to Rome. Although he tries to hide everything behind his smile and still works very cooperatively, Frederike is not fooled by him, he already has two criminal psychologists on his conscience. With a simple trick he can escape and hide with a "friend". Now he wants to get revenge on Frederike, who holed him up. He kidnaps Friederike's husband, who in the meantime had moved to Rome out of boredom. Keller asks Frederike to meet with him without police protection. She agrees and manages to master the situation, because her Italian colleagues have not remained inactive and were able to arrest Keller and his accomplices. Frederike and her husband have now both moved away from each other emotionally and each have a different partner waiting for them.
