Michel Comte (born November 19, 1954 in Zurich ) is a Swiss fashion, portrait, reportage and society photographer and is the grandson of the Swiss aviation pioneer Alfred Comte .

After training as a restorer , Comte first worked at the Zurich art gallery Bruno Bischofberger and then presented himself as a photographer for the Zurich fashion designer Hannes B. One of his best-known pictures is a black and white photograph of the former model Carla Bruni . The original of this picture reached a price of 91,000 euros at a Christie's auction on April 10, 2008 . He has also portrayed many celebrities such as Sophia Loren , George Clooney , Miles Davis and Karl-Heinz Grasser .

Comte went to Paris as a restorer and worked for Emanuel Ungaro . This was followed by work for Karl Lagerfeld , who saw the Ungaro campaign in Vogue , then for Armani , Dolce & Gabbana , Chloé , Nike , Versace , Gianfranco Ferré , Chanel and Lancôme , and a little later also for BMW , Ferrari , Mercedes-Benz , Sony as well as Siemens .

Today he lives in New York . He is divorced and has two children (* 1987 and 1993).

Michel Comte has realized photo projects for museums and galleries, but also works as a reporter for the International Committee of the Red Cross .

His Michel Comte Water Foundation finances projects to purify water. Part of the proceeds from its Shared Water range of cosmetics will go to this foundation.
