Gran Paradiso is a German melodrama about an unusual challenge.
action
The twenty-three year old Mark, played by Ken Duken, lost his mother in his childhood. His father was killed in a motorcycle accident while he and his son were on the way to the Alps to climb Gran Paradiso . Since this accident, Mark has been sitting in a wheelchair, paraplegic and cannot come to terms with his situation. Since he has already taken action against a doctor, he is now being cared for in a home for the mentally handicapped.
When the therapist Lisa (Regula Grauwiller) takes up her new job at the institution, she tries to tear Mark out of his isolation, but only after she finds him in a dramatic situation - Mark is on the verge of committing suicide by getting off the roof of an institution building falls - has promised to take him to the Gran Paradiso, he lets talk to him. She turns to her old friend Martin (Max Herbrechter), who is professionally involved in the rehabilitation of offenders, and persuades him to take part in the action. Finally, a mixed team of prisoners and the mentally handicapped starts to conquer the mountain with Mark under the direction of Lisa and Martin. All adversities, including two demonstratively viciously drawn opponents and a hostile hostess, are overcome, and the film ends with a scene in which Mark deposits his dead father's altimeter on the top of the mountain.
