Niki Drozdowski (born January 27, 1979 in Augsburg ) is a German film director and screenwriter.

Life

Niki Drozdowski is the son of the actor Georg Marin and the make-up artist Beatrix Drozdowski. His grandfather is the writer and actor Georg Drozdowski . With the support of this family home, Drozdowski discovered his interest in film at an early age and was already working in the field of 3D animation as a student. Both parents were also professionally involved in Drozdowski's films several times.

Drozdowski studied 3D animation, post-production, screenwriting and directing at the Cologne Academy of Media Arts . He achieved his first successes as a director at the Short Cuts Cologne festival at the Art Academy for Media Cologne with two social spots ( boxer or bullfight and jogger or ivory ) realized for “NOAH Menschen für Tiere eV” . In it he visualized the unfair fight of people against animals by projecting them onto sporting events and staging a boxer as a victim of a bullfight and a jogger as a victim of a driven hunt.

Drozdowski achieved his greatest international success to date in 2004 with the diploma film Wilfried Neuss, which was awarded at the NextFrame Festival Philadelphia 05 - a symphony in five movements that tells the story of a man whose musical dream is shattered by a tinnitus disease.

Together with the founder of Television & More , Martin Gülzow (formerly Freemantle TV and Endemol ), Drozdowski was involved in the development of various game show formats. In 2006 he founded his own production company CINEMA ERGO SUM , which he has been running with Daniel Buder since 2007 .

In 2009 he began shooting the zombie film Extinction - The GMO Chronicles , for which he worked as a producer, director and writer. The film premiered on October 28, 2011 at the Hof Film Festival.
