reception

Axel Weidemann from the FAZ stated the following: “Whatever the case is quoted: bad and therefore popular action films (' Tango and Cash '), series (' Game of Thrones ') and memes. Everything is charged up by sometimes gorgeous cheap slapstick in the style of the eighties and nineties - think of ' The Naked Cannon '. It ignites in his hyperbole when the football maniacs, who pulls a burning cigarette out of a coffee cup to drink from it with relish, tells how people used to play football. Scenic look back: In light beige windbreakers, with long hair, headbands, a broken shin, a gun in hand and of course constantly smoking. Such scenes are worth gold. Unfortunately, Lars Fricke's fellow inmates are moderately original and the flashbacks copied from cartoon comedies such as ' Family Guy ' often lack a sense of timing. But although many jokes are staged to death: Hope dies last. After all, 'neoManiacs' shows that you can exude at least a touch of ' Monty Python ' even in Germany . Or at least from ' Klimbim '. "

Alexander Krei from DWDL.de criticizes the fact that the neoManiacs project is overloaded: “Maybe it's because the creators have set themselves a little too much. Here skits that should work individually on the Internet, there a separate framework for TV - and because that alone is not enough, the producers have also come up with another storyline for the YouTube world. Less would probably have been more, especially since the - new - basic idea sounds very promising on paper. "

Glenn Riedmeier from the film and television series information portal TV Wishlist does not see neoManiacs as a series “in the conventional sense”, but for him it is “more of a wild, fast-paced ride through the limits of taste and humor”. His conclusion: “The sketch format is certainly not for everyone, but anyone who has a vein for anarchic comedy and over-the-top parodies of various TV genres should take a look. 'NeoManiacs' is stylistically reminiscent of productions by the British youth broadcaster BBC three , which are also characterized by surreal and weird content that goes beyond the mainstream. "

In the Stuttgarter Nachrichten, Senta Krasser attested the series had a special sense of humor: "If you are not into headless footballers or pantomime superheroes, you shouldn't laugh on the internet or on television." In addition, she criticizes the fact that the integration of the YouTube stars does not work properly in terms of content, you can see “in the format that the staff was there first, and only then did the idea for the series come along. Not all skits fit into a round whole. "
