The Short Cuts Cologne were among the largest German short film festivals. It was founded in 1998 by Stephan Sarasi and Hans-Dieter Delkus. The Short Cuts Cologne had set themselves the task of effectively spreading the culturally demanding short film and being a forum for filmmakers, the film industry and film lovers. The festival was able to establish itself internationally and received a great response from filmmakers and production companies. In 2007, almost 2500 short films from 71 countries were submitted to the international competition. The Short Cuts Cologne were primarily a public festival that presented the international developments in the competition, but also organized public prizes for young regional talent. The short cuts cologne took place in 2008 for the last time for the time being. A lack of support from the city of Cologne was indicated by the Kölner Filmhaus eV association. The last head was Dirk Werner.

The Short Cuts Cologne were members of the following associations:

  • AG Kurzfilm - Bundesverband Deutscher Kurzfilm (founding member) - The AG Kurzfilm is an association founded in 2001 to represent the interests of short films in Germany. The AG Kurzfilm is now represented in all important film committees and is the first point of contact for short films, both for politics and for all interested parties at home and abroad.

  • Kino Aktiv, Cologne - Kino Aktiv is a loose association of Cologne film initiatives.
  • Network of North Rhine-Westphalia Film Festivals - The network is a loose association of festivals in North Rhine- Westphalia with the aim of achieving better coordination, better cooperation and a stronger position vis-à-vis politics.
